Everything you've dreamt for your Maui Vacation is here. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THIS IS A LEGAL VACATION RENTAL PROPERTY. There are very few homes that can be legally rented for short-term vacations and those that cannot be are being shut down. Keep this in mind when selecting your rental!
This large estate home is nestled on the desirable sunny South Shore of Maui. And, it's right on the beach! This lovely traditional Hawaiian home was custom built for a prominent local family in 1946 and has been fully restored yet retains all its original charm.
This beautiful home is nestled on a large lot, adjoining a beautiful beach reserve, which is an ideal place for children to play safely. The golden sandy beach has small waves making it perfect for family outings. Ideal for snorkeling, swimming, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, long walks or simply to watch the sun set with a glass of wine.
The private pool is located off the living and dining areas on the ocean facing lanai. There is a gas BBQ and outdoor shower just off the kitchen entrance, ideal for rinsing off after a day at the beach. A 2nd covered lanai overlooks the lush garden and is the perfect place to relax and read a book.
The home features 3 spacious bedrooms each with a private en suite bath. There is also a semi-private sleeping loft.
Bedroom 1/Oceanview Bedroom: California King Bed with full attached bathroom.
Bedroom 2/Garden view Bedroom: Four Twin Beds with full attached bathroom.
Bedroom 3 (Loft): Two double beds are in a loft bedroom off Bedroom 2. They share the bathroom with bedroom 2.
Bedroom 4/Main floor Bedroom: Two Queen Beds with full attached bathroom.
Please note that accommodating 14 people is under the assumption that the party is a mix of adults and children based on size of beds in the loft and the necessity to share some sleeping spaces

Located in popular Kihei Town, you are within walking distance of parks, restaurants & shopping as well as tennis and basketball courts.
Important to note: The County of Maui has begun to aggressively shut down illegal vacation rentals. Without fitting the criteria of County of Maui Ordinance No 4167 Bill No 75 (2014) or having a short term rental license, a property cannot be legally rented.
The criteria of the Ordinance applies to our house. It is located on property zoned A-1 Apartment District and was built in 1946. When a property is zoned A-1, has received building permits, and was built prior to 1989, there is no restriction on the length of occupancies that can be accepted. Vacation and short-term transient rentals are entirely legal. In the case of our property, it was built in 1946 for Joseph Tam Sing and family. The original building permit and tax records dating back to the 1940's can be readily located via County of Maui Online Services site under "Certified History Field and Parcel Books to 1987".
While we strive to keep all photos up to date, there may be new and updated pieces of furniture or décor that are different than in the original pictures. The functionality, available seating and sleeping space will remain the same or may improve.

Best kept secret

Home and location was fantastic for our family of 11. Pool with grassy yard and then sandy beach was amazing. The owners, Steve and Shelly were also very helpful and friendly. You’ll love their quirky cats David and Goliath. The management company was not very helpful when needed. Took over 24 hours for them to answer questions more than once, so the owners stepped in and helped

The best in Maui

We stayed at this piece of paradise for two full weeks and could have moved in permanently. The house is amazing and built for comfort, entertaining and beach life. The yards are absolutely stunning and well kept. We didn't think we would utilize the pool as much with the ocean steps away but the pool was a great place to hang out too. The beach is very sandy and inviting with so many turtles in the water. One of them made its way up on the beach to say hello also!There was a power outage in the area for quite some time and we were checked on regularity which was very nice. Although they couldn't help with my crib playing, everyone at CB Island Vacations was very helpful and friendly 🙂 The home is in an ideal spot with so much around. There is lots to do and two weeks wizzed by. Maui is beautiful on its own but when you add staying at this home, I can't imagine a better place for a vacation. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing Vacation Home

This home was absolutely the best for our family trip. The house is beautiful and extremely comfortable for a party of 13. Even for a party this large we had plenty of space. The grounds are immaculately maintained and also beautiful. Stores, restaurants and shopping are super close. We highly recommend this home and would definitely rent again.

Perfect family vacation home

This house and grounds ate absolutely beautiful. We were 9 adults and 4 children and didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. The pool, the perfectly manicured yard and beautiful beach kept us all occupied. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. Every amenity was top notch. Communication with Caldwell Banker was quick and easy with fast responses. This is a home we would definitely rent again. We all absolutely had a great time.

Perfect location for your family vacation

This location was absolutely perfect for our family vacation. The house was wonderful for small children and the adults. The Yard was absolutely beautiful, and the beach was stunning. We were lucky enough to have a sea turtle come right up on the beach while we were staying there. The check-in process was very easy and the communication from the management company was very good. I would highly recommend this for your family vacation. they had many extras including boogie boards, and yard games as well as plenty of pool toys. It was absolutely a perfect vacation.

A Piece of Paradise !
The house was everything we wanted / expected and more ! We had grandkids from 5 to 17 years of age - they played until they couldn't !! The pool was an added luxury with just one more option for enjoyment . We would definitely come back ! Thank you !!

Exceeded expectations!
The Halame Hale Home was even better than the photographs could show! With a private pool, huge grassy area, and direct access to the beach it was a perfect location for our family vacation. We were ages 3 to 73 and we had everything we needed in living, sleeping, and kitchen space. Being at this quiet location was relaxing and also centrally located to get to activities. We would heartily recommend this gorgeous home--we loved it!

Great vacation

Great Family Home
Our famiy of 10, ranging in age from 7 to 75 fit perfectly in this house and location. The pool, expansive lawn and small beach was so convenient and apprecated. We could sit and eat on the patio while keeping an eye on the children in the pool and allowing them to hop out to eat without the worry of water inside the house. We appreciated the gated community and the security it provided. The privacy was also a plus with stores and shops a quick drive (or even walking distance). We will be back!!

Best Vacay!!

Perfect beach house. This property is nestled in a quiet area. The beach is great for kids and paddle boarders. There are turtles swimming only a few feet off the shoreline. There are tons a lawn games to entertain kids and adults of all ages.

Thanksgiving Getsway

Great place for family vacation and especially for families with young children. Great house and wonderful location. Walking distance to grocery and for those who want to walk for their morning coffee and casual restaurants. All meals were on the back patio dinners came with amazing sunsets! Everything in the house was clean and in working order. The pool was wonderful on windy afternoons and nights. I highly recommend this property for extended stay!

A Little Bit of Paradise
Just what our group of eight were looking for: Idyllic beachfront location with views from inside and out through a private coconut grove to the ocean, easy access to a lightly used beach perfect for SUPs, swimming and turtle watching, spacious kitchen and lanai, private pool. Sunset and morning setting moon provided mesmerizing vistas across the ocean.
One suggestion: We would have appreciated a greater assortment of cooking supplies as things as basic as a sheet pan and casserole dish were not stocked.

Amazing Family Vacation Home

Beautiful setting for a relaxing family stay with the large dining table that accommodated everyone for meals. We all enjoyed the pool and the water toys provided, playing volleyball and picnicking on the large lawn area (lounge chairs provided - nice for napping in the sun), and the ocean was an easy walk down the bank where we watched the sunset and sunrise on lawn chairs (provided). We saw giant tortoises while snorkeling and on the beach at night - amazing vacation. We would definitely return.

Everything you can ask for

It lived up to all of our expectations! The accommodations were great for 11 of us. The view from the the patio was magnificent. You did not have to leave the patio area to enjoy the sunset every night. It was like having an entire each to ourselves. And the pool was a big hit for the kids. This location did not disappoint. Wow, just Wow

They say "You get what you pay for." While this is a very pricey rental, it was absolutely worth every penny. It's a super spacious house, in very good condition, with a great kitchen. When we arrived, it was spotless, and stocked with super high quality cooking utensils and dishware. The air conditioners worked great for when you just can't handle the Hawaii Heat any more. There was a lovely little welcoming basket for us.The beds were all comfortable, we got great sleep every night. If you leave the windows open, you can hear the ocean in a Big Kind Of Way. So fun! The house faces West, so the spectacular sunsets are a wonderful way to wind down the evening. There is a HUGE yard to run around in, and the beach is fabulous and very, very uncrowded. We had sea turtles swim right up to us.The bedrooms all have their own bathroom en suite, and the showers are great.For those rare moments when you want to stay inside, there is a gigantic TV in the living room to make it super easy to chill out.The house is in a gated community, and another gate for the house property itself. So our rental car was never messed with, we even got to leaving the windows down on the car because we felt so safe, which makes for a much cooler car to climb into for adventuring. We never heard the neighbors.Lots of good food within walking distance.The private pool has a zillion pool toys, along with beach shoes. A very nice touch.The Hosts were super attentive, making sure we got in OK, got out OK, and asked a couple times during the stay if we needed anything.I want to come back to this oasis. It was divine.

Hawaii 5-0 family vacation
It was mostly great.....a few downers, like air conditioning that the owner requested that we not use during the garbage disposal....the bed situation was ample, but the room configuration resulted in no privacy for one of the couples. The location and proximity to the beach made up for all the shortcomings.

A Week in Paradise

We had a week long family vacation at the Halama Hale House. The house was great and the view was out of this world. We got fast answers to any questions we had and we got excellent service. The house was cool with all of the ceiling fans and room air conditioner. We all sleep in comfort after a day in the sun and surf. The ocean was in our back yard and then we had the pool as an option. I highly recommend this house and although it was pricey it was worth it.

Family Paradice
We stayed here for 8 nights! It was very comfortable and and fit our family perfect! We had 2 babies under 2 who took naps, and the rooms were all so quiet! The pool was awesome, the view was stunning and we would definitely stay here again in the future. Great location to walk to a few areas in town.

We had a wonderful time and found the house perfect for our family. The yard was unbelievably beautiful with our own.beach which our grandchildren loved. The pool wasgreat- the kids and adults loved sitting out on the back Patio by the pool. The sunsets were truly spectacular. Our grand children all wanted to move permanently to the house!
My only complaint was the mattesses in the ground floor bedroom were pretty awful- super soft. Other than that we loved our stay.

Lovely beach home!
The property was as described and pictures were accurate. There were many board games, lawn games, and beach toys which made this home extra family friendly. The beach was sandy and the water was shallow - great for kids of all ages. We spotted turtles daily from the beach. The house was roomy and perfect for our multi-generation family of 9. Just note that beds on the main floor bedroom were super soft and were not ideal for older adults. There were many shops walking distance including a delicious pie place and an excellent coffee shop. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to our friends.

Wonderful family vacation

We had 8 adults and three young kids in our group and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. The location felt very secure and even with homes near by, it feels very private. The beds are very comfortable. The private pool is clean and the beach is so nice- there’s sand for the kids to play, shade to sit and watch, and the waves are pretty gentle most of the day. There are rocks under the waves that don’t bother you at all if you wear water shoes. They provide pretty much everything you need- fully stocked kitchen including spices and food storage containers, beach towels and chairs, toys for the pool and beach. The washer and dryer made packing much easier and they provided detergent and dryer sheets! We saw a lot of the island too but the best part of the vacation was being together at the house. I would stay here again!

Family Vacation

This home in Kihei is beautiful and well kept. The property, location and layout was exactly how it was described. Having restrooms in all the bedrooms along with the extra toilet in the living area were extremely helpful for a large party. We enjoyed the pool and the beach located in the backyard. Our only concern was the cleanliness on certain areas of the house could have been better.
We also appreciate that they accommodated an early check in and the owners were very kind.

Family Trip to Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Fabulous! The house was clean and ready for our entire family of adults, teens and children. The backyard was all and more than expected. Kids played tag, volleyball, and baseball. The beach was the best experience ever. Property staff was quick to respond to refrigerator issue. It was a hot week in Kihei and could have used a bit more air conditioning, but the fans worked well.

What an awesome vacation

We had all of our family there with grandchildren. The pool was great!! The house very roomy and we loved the grass before the beach!! We played badminton, volleyball, softball, frisbee and the kids ran and played rag etc. then the beach was so amazing. Like you Gas your own private beach. We saw a turtle several times resting up on the sand. The entire atmosphere was perfect and the trip of a lifetime.

Gracious Holiday Home

Hale Halama is a super comfortable family home with the wonderful vibe of old school charm that made us immediately feel at ease. We loved it from the open cupboards on one side of the kitchen to the well-sealed old hardwood floors on the upper two floors. The main lanai, which was covered, had a big family-sized table where we enjoyed our meals and the view. The expansive palm covered property was a beautiful foreground for the rosy orange Maui sunsets and the sandy beach where we could collect shells and coral. We walked the beach with coffee in hand, swam and paddle-boarded beyond dozens of times and then rinsed off in the lovely, warm outdoor shower. The pool was a perfect size and a nice place for a different kind of refreshing dip. Our 5 little people loved looking for the little geckos off the back lanai overlooking the scented gardens. They had many hours of searching fun. Homeowners Shelly and Steve have made their home so family friendly we hated to say goodbye, but we have take away oodles of fantastic and restorative family memories.

Best Maui trip

Our vacation was amazing mainly because of this property. It was right on the beach and we walked every day and night. The pool was fabulous fun for the kids, great beds, great bathrooms and kitchen. Easy access to the property but a feeling of security and safety in the gated community.
